Clinical pharmacy

Our clinical portfolio is expanding on a frequent basis, helping you to advance your knowledge and skills and deliver medicines optimisation in practice for all sectors of pharmacy. From two new focal points a year to our small group learning for hospital pharmacists – Optimise – this section focuses on clinical pharmacy, diseases and therapeutics.

Public health

The public health agenda is embedded in pharmacy, yet topics such as emergency contraception or stop smoking support are as prevalent as ever. As well as our public health workshops, use this section to access a wide range of resources to assure and maintain your competence, all underpinned by the Declaration of Competence system.

CPPE launches What's new in the BNF 72?

We've worked alongside BNF Publications to develop an interactive learning programme which explores the changes in the latest edition of the British National Formulary (BNF).

What's new in the BNF 72? works through the new recommendations, key clinical developments and safety isses brought about by the changes to the BNF. There are ten case studies to work through, which ask two questions and are supported by suggested answers, offering you immediate reflection on your work. Additional resources, links to the BNF and further CPPE learning useful for your development, have been signposted throughout the programme to support your understanding of each topic.

The learning includes the following topics:

  • risedronate and osteonecrosis of the external auditory canal
  • advice on pregnancy prevention for women and men related to mycophenolate mofetil
  • ulceration associated with nicorandil
  • the management of uncomplicated diverticulitis
  • the use of live attenuated vaccines in infants who have been exposed to TBF-alpha or other biological medicines in utero.

Keep up to date with changes in the BNF by completing What's new in the BNF 72? now.

Take our BNF themed e-challenge - can you score 10/10?
